Some local STC chapters are reportedly still useful to their members,
but I don't think the national organization justifies its ever-steeper
dues or the compensation it pays the people who run it. Facts I came
up with last November:
membership dues $1.3 million
conference income $930K
advertising income $195K
other income ~$100K
number of voting members 9
$2.76 million in expenses including
- $431K compensation for three directors
- $663K for other salaries and wages
I don't find the Schedule O that's supposed to detail $757K of the spending.
