Sorry to reply to the list, but I'm not sure if I can send to BITNET
folks....
I am a member of the Advisory Board for the Professional Writing and
Editing Master's degree program at George Mason University in Fairfax.
We meet on an irregular basis with faculty reps to discuss ideas for courses
that would better prepare graduates for "the real world" (whatever that
is). Board members come from a variety of backgrounds: different types
of writing specialties, different degrees from other schools, etc. We compare
the mission and goals of the university, department, and program to those
of other programs and try to find courses and directions for the program that
offer a good fit.
If you'd like more specifics, let me know.
