Chris Dresden requested opinions about icons for cautions and warnings.
Kristi Koscianski said that they use the symbol of the palm of a hand,
symbolizing stop, with the word warning in red above it.

This may be OK if you are positive that none of your customers are from
a culture that finds this symbol offensive (according to our translation
company). When using ANY symbols, check out your potential users for
possible cultural gaffes.

We use a triangle with an explanation point inside for CAUTIONS and for
WARNINGS of a chemical, mechanical, or flammable nature; and a triangle
with a lightening bolt inside for WARNINGS of an electrical nature.
This is in accordance with ISO 1010-series requirements.
