Sorry--subject of the sentence is "millions"
"it" is the object of a preposition.

A friend and I argue over a sentence found in a book.
The sentence -> Millions of people from every continent are connected to
it.
the word "it" is the subject and an echo word. I say the sentence should
be rewritten to say "It has millions of people from every continent
connected."
But this way sounds like something is missing.
