The on-line index can have hypertext links to the page numbers, which
gives you instant access to the reference.
** But ideally it would give you a further level (like the Windows Help
search mechanism)-- maybe too detailed for a printed index-- explaining
what you will get at each of those pages, rather than just scattershotting
the numbers at you.
