Subject:Alternatives to "user" From:Arthur Comings <atc -at- CORTE-MADERA -dot- GEOQUEST -dot- SLB -dot- COM> Date:Thu, 5 Jan 1995 14:17:20 PST
I'm writing the docs for an application used by geoscientists and oil
explorationists. The thing is, other people at their site are also
using the same software to set things up for them and help them out in
many ways.
I have words for these other people, (I'm forced to be a bit cagey here
about what the product and the people DO) but I need a word for those
scientists.
I'm using "users" or "end users" in my first rough drafts, but I wish I
had a word better than that -- one which implies "the people, trained
in a specific discipline, who are ultimately using this software to do
their jobs more efficiently" -- as opposed to the clerks and
administrators.
