If you look at the actual number of people who responded to the STC survey
it is only 664 in the U.S. and 140 in Canada (at least I think that is
what Base means, I always used n=). That is pretty low percentage of the
actual membership of 16,331, or 4.9% of the total to be exact. I don't
know if such a small percentage is statistically significant, and
therefore "realistic."
I have seen other regional surveys done by individual chapters that are
more accurate. I have also heard of, but not seen, salary surveys done by
EDP(?), but somebody else will have to give more data for this one. My
recommendation to the international STC is to collect the salary data on
the membership form with a separate tear-off section for anonymity.
