Subject:KC/STC "Online Services" Program From:Audrey Choden <AChoden -at- AOL -dot- COM> Date:Wed, 22 Mar 1995 09:08:40 -0500
This month's KC/STC program was a panel discussion on how technical writers
use online services in their jobs or businesses. The panel discussed the
following questions:
1. How did you get started using online services?
2. Which online services do you prefer and why?
3. What are some examples of situations in which an online service helped you
find valuable information, solve a problem or learn about an opportunity?
4. What advice would you give someone who in interested in using online
services?
The discussion focused on major service providers and the Internet. One of
the panelists discussed the problem of transferring files to clients who do
not use online services and yet need to maintain system security, and also
demonstrated how he uses LapLink to solve this problem. Participants also had
an opportunity to see a demonstration of CompuServe and America Online.
