Position: Senior Technical Communicator
Reports to: Manager, Technical Communication

Position Description
Responsible for planning, organizing, writing, and editing user
documentation and technical documentation, both printed and on-line.
Prerequisites/Qualifications
1. Bachelor's or Master's degree in Technical Communication, Technical
Writing, or related discipline. In special cases, the Company will waive the
requirement for the major.
2. Minimum of two years of applicable experience.
3. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
4. Very good editing skills, especially for print and on-line documentation.
5. Very good interviewing skills.
6. Very good analytic, planning, and organization skills.
7. Experience developing user and technical documentation for client/server
applications.
Primary Responsibilities
Plan, organize, write, and edit user documentation and technical
documentation, both printed and on-line. Perform user and task analyses to
learn about the needs of users. With guidance, develop objectives for the
documentation. Research the application to be documented with software
engineers. Help plan the content and organization of documentation for
applications. Acquire and organize basic source material, including
specifications, engineering write-ups, and so on.
Scope of Responsibilities
Under occasional supervision of technical communication management, assume
responsibility for documentation assignments of significant scope. Exercise
judgment within defined procedures and practices to determine appropriate
action. Be involved in documentation development of strategic impact
required of an experienced technical communicator. Work well in a variety of
documentation assignments.
