Subject:Re: Labeling software for CD-ROMs? From:Michael Starr <micsta -at- SYMIX -dot- COM> Date:Mon, 20 May 1996 09:19:00 EDT
I produced (square) labels for the jewel box and used a program called
CDLABEL
(CDLAB203.ZIP). It creates both a front and back cover for the box and
prints
them on one sheet of paper. I like the program and contacted the author
about
future enhancements such as graphics, etc. He responded that he has no plans
to enhance the program at this time.
I would try www.shareware.com to search for the program.
As for the CDROM itself, I have heard that you should not put a 'sticker'
on
a CD, even if it is the size of the disc. A CD is balanced and spins rather
fast and putting a sticker/label on it would cause it to be out-of-balance
and
there also exists a possibility of the sticker coming off in the drive.

Does anybody know of a Windows software package that would be good for
producing
labels for both CDs (round) and jewel boxes (square)?
One of our development teams is now issuing the product on CD-ROM, but the
volumes are too low and the changes too frequent to consider having labels
commercially printed at this time.
Ironically, this task fell to me because in a software development meeting I
mentioned new binders we had printed for our manuals. So now I'm considered
the
packaging expert for the product <g>.
