boy I couldn't agree more with the lack of cross-platform coverage by
Frame... I know they have a tough job but it doesn't live up to the
promises they make...
We're in a similar situation as you Dick with Sun's and Windows in our
shop and those plus PowerMacs at the client site. We gave up on it. We
use PDF to view documents once they are completed (In Word or FRame).
It is the only way we can come close enough to our original document's
layout and content electronically at this time. :-(
We hope that maybe we can enlighten our client about how software system
reference should be done electronically... but in the mean time, PDF
works for us.
I think the thing that bothers me most about Frame is that they really
market their cross-platform capability hard. Too hard if you ask me. I
think some truth in advertising would be warranted here.
We're just about to the point where we're so fed up with frame, that we
may start running Windows apps with NTINTRIGUE or WABI undr Solaris just
so that we can all work on the same OA products (Office95 suite is what
we use, client is still stuck on W2, Excel4, PP3 etc.).
Nuff ranting...
