TechWhirl (TECHWR-L) is a resource for technical writing and technical communications professionals of all experience levels and in all industries to share their experiences and acquire information.
For two decades, technical communicators have turned to TechWhirl to ask and answer questions about the always-changing world of technical communications, such as tools, skills, career paths, methodologies, and emerging industries. The TechWhirl Archives and magazine, created for, by and about technical writers, offer a wealth of knowledge to everyone with an interest in any aspect of technical communications.
A non-Tech Writing group near to me recently had a large spec with
over 30 appendices in it. They decided to go for a numbering scheme
because of automatic sorting in the ToC.
How would others handle situations where you have >26 appendices?
Appendix A..Z, AA..ZZ,
Appendix 1..99
Rework so that the situation did not occur

Everywhere I have worked, including the present, has used the A, B, C
configuration for appendices. I find it better because there is no confusion
between Section or Chapter 1. The letter designation is carried in the
figure and page numbers, so there is confusion.
