TechWhirl (TECHWR-L) is a resource for technical writing and technical communications professionals of all experience levels and in all industries to share their experiences and acquire information.
For two decades, technical communicators have turned to TechWhirl to ask and answer questions about the always-changing world of technical communications, such as tools, skills, career paths, methodologies, and emerging industries. The TechWhirl Archives and magazine, created for, by and about technical writers, offer a wealth of knowledge to everyone with an interest in any aspect of technical communications.
When I read Steve's initial posting I thought that the cynics among our
number would rip him a few new serial ports. But I am deeply impressed that
humanity (small H) still reigns, at least in this little corner of
cyberspace. To Steve, and to all who responded so warmly... thank you for
the many insights. I wish you all the best in the juggle act of life, and
of writing for the world of work!
My solution is to have way too many hobbies (including juggling!) along with
some amazingly low-tech pastimes - brewing, gardening, playing dixieland
trombone, and wearing liederhosen/playing tuba in a German band. This helps
recharge the old batteries, and helps me not take myself too seriously ;-)
Ooompah!
Jim.
