TechWhirl (TECHWR-L) is a resource for technical writing and technical communications professionals of all experience levels and in all industries to share their experiences and acquire information.
For two decades, technical communicators have turned to TechWhirl to ask and answer questions about the always-changing world of technical communications, such as tools, skills, career paths, methodologies, and emerging industries. The TechWhirl Archives and magazine, created for, by and about technical writers, offer a wealth of knowledge to everyone with an interest in any aspect of technical communications.
Yesterday I posted a question about user surveys. Here are some
clarifications of the issues involved:
1. I will meet some users. However, I am the only person doing
documentation, and won't be allowed time for many such meetings.
A survey would gather a greater mass of information with less
time/effort on my part.
2. The product already exists, and is used by 80-90% of the Real
Estate offices in the USA. For those of you who have been in
the Real Estate business, you may know it as LENI. We're
converting it to a Windows NT interface.
3. We know what kind of hardware the users will have, since we
provide it.
Thanks for the questions and suggestions I've received. If anyone
has more thoughts, please let me know,
Sarah
