standard disclaimer: I live in Germany, you environment might be slightly
different.
It is perfectly normal that you wish to change your job from time to time. At
least over here you should stay for some 5 years, but then the wish to change
is totally normal.
If your employer is a very small company they might not be used to that. But
otherwise they know that it is to happen. Therefore it is good business
practice to:
* Fully describe where you work and what you do (without
offering any trade secrets, of course).
* Forbid the potential new employer to contact your present one.
(O.K., don't call it that...)
You might offer to contact former employers or other people who can say
something about your professional qualities. But only offer the phone numers
of people who might talk positively about you and who have allowed you to
forward their phone number.
ee> At what point would you tell your employer--over the phone, at
ee> an interview, or at all?
