Let me add to my previous comments:
Don't be too upset over this situation. The company and you are both
benefitting by going through an agency.
You: You're getting an introduction that you might not have had if this
company passed over your resume with dozens of others that they received.
And you have the benefit of already being screened before going to the
company. You're one step ahead of the pack, so to speak.
Company: The company is paying the agency to locate and screen appropriate
candidates. Some of the dredded legwork is taken off their shoulders, and
they feel they're seeing the cream of the crop vs. being unsure about
candidates who sent in resumes in response to the newspaper ad.
