Word 97 doesn't save to the native Word6/7 format, but substitutes a
goofy (at best) RTF format that doesn't convert well. It took them 8
months to change this, but MS finally posted a fix on their web site for
Word 97 that allows it to save in actual Word 6/7 format rather than
RTF. This should help with the problem you are having.
