Sorry... when I saw my own posting in the digest, I
realized I'd inadvertently omitted the date for Miller's
publication; that would have been 1956, which means the
research was conducted more than 40 years ago. No idea
whether Miller was the first one to come up with the idea,
but the article implies that much of the research was
conducted years earlier.
