Tony...you wouldn't believe how well it works. First, check out the
following url:

http://www.computerbits.com/archive/9706/jobs9706.htm

This url is to an online publication that did a story on how I found my
first tech writer position through the Internet.

Since then, just to show that it wasn't a fluke, I've found my next four
contracting assignments in a similar way, all in excess of $40 per hour,
with one at $50. The difference now over the above article is that I
have a personal database of well over 300 agencies that handle tech
writer contractors. When I find myself getting close to the end of an
assignment, I crank up the resume, update it, convert it to html for the
web page and asci for the email, and send an email to well over 300
agencies at the same time.

Amazingly, there will be multiple days at a stretch where I get calls
from 5-10 agencies per day, with rarely a day that I don't get atleast
one call. The last three gigs I took first come first serve and I
didn't go more than a day or two between the end of one and the start of
another. This time, I became very picky and turned down 3 positions
before accepting the one I have now.

It really does work, but shhh...let's keep it between you and me. ok?
