Subject:Diff Betw. QA and Usability Testing -Reply From:Carol Van Natta <CVANNATT -at- ITC -dot- NRCS -dot- USDA -dot- GOV> Date:Mon, 12 Jan 1998 10:42:47 -0700
A bad user interface design can easily pass QA and bomb
on usability.
QA asks: does it work as defined in the requirements,
specs, help, etc.?
Usability asks: does it work from a user's point of view,
regardless of what requirements, specs, help, etc. said.?
Obviously, usability testing needs to be done a lot earlier in
the process.

What is the difference between QA testing and Usability
Testing?
Are they two different things?
Is one a compnent part of the other?
Is there overlap?
TIA!
