TechWhirl (TECHWR-L) is a resource for technical writing and technical communications professionals of all experience levels and in all industries to share their experiences and acquire information.
For two decades, technical communicators have turned to TechWhirl to ask and answer questions about the always-changing world of technical communications, such as tools, skills, career paths, methodologies, and emerging industries. The TechWhirl Archives and magazine, created for, by and about technical writers, offer a wealth of knowledge to everyone with an interest in any aspect of technical communications.
Due to some arrangement when my software company was a "start-up," I am
a tech writer situated in the Marketing Department. Great people,
energetic, creative. Everybody loves this group except the developers.
Marketing says - you don't understand, this product won't sell unless
you have these features. Development says - You don't understand the
technological barriers to putting this crap in...and back and forth they
go...
I have a programming background. Right or wrong, I can see why these
folks don't want to be told what to do!
But in general, I guess what folks have against Marketing is that it
involves some outright deception. That's why Sales loves Marketing! ;~P
