Howdy, Amy:

I work for both Marketing and Engineering, so I get to see the assets
and liabilities of each group. Marketing is an extension of sales which
can often be a slimy business. The marketing group I work for is a pretty
fair group. We do spend many hours trying to place our product in the best
light we can to generate the most sales we can. Marketing, by its very nature,
is rooted in manipulation; many people find that offensive. Personally, I
think
it is just an extension of writing for your audience.

I like working for Marketing. I am getting to be creative while learning about
new
things (like the web). I really have to look at how words affect people and
make
sure I am saying what I am really trying to convey.

It is a completely different mind set from straight technical writing.
