Personally, I would recommend dropping the "below" altogether and go with
something like "follow these directions." The reason is that if you
are producing hardcopy, and you have an unfortunate page break, or even if
the steps exceed the length of a single page, the directions will no longer
necessarily be "below" your opening line whereas they will always "follow."
Just a thought.
