TechWhirl (TECHWR-L) is a resource for technical writing and technical communications professionals of all experience levels and in all industries to share their experiences and acquire information.
For two decades, technical communicators have turned to TechWhirl to ask and answer questions about the always-changing world of technical communications, such as tools, skills, career paths, methodologies, and emerging industries. The TechWhirl Archives and magazine, created for, by and about technical writers, offer a wealth of knowledge to everyone with an interest in any aspect of technical communications.
It's ok to be nasty. This is work. We're supposed to be nasty.
The reason I prefer the CDs are a) cost and b) the hassles which are
created with the single font. When I pick a single font out, I have to
draw up a purchase order, put in a short proposal of why I need this
font and what it will be used in, set it on my manager's desk (where it
remains for about a week) then it moves to the General Manager's desk
(where it remains for another week) and then if it is approved, I have
to get the GM's company credit card to purchase it. If I buy a CD, I
only have to do it once and I can put it on an account at our local
software store, as long as I get verbal approval from my manager.
I envy you if you don't have to face this kind of process (read
bureaucracy).
