Downey Savings and Loan Assn. in Newport Beach, California has an
opening for a Technical Writer/Online Documentation Specialist. This
is a full-time, permanent position.
Basic Requirements:
Five years experience writing policies, procedures, and user
documentation for online publication.
Proficient knowledge of NT, Word 97, Excel, and Adobe Acrobat required.
MS Access proficiency a plus.
InfoLinker (Adobe Acrobat plug-in) knowledge helpful, but not required
(training is available).
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Develop and maintain the Information Systems (I.S.) Department?s
policies and procedures using on-line or paper mediums.
2. Provide system support to all Downey departments using on-line
documentation software. Recommend on-line information page layouts,
file structures. Create automated links between publications, and
facilitate full text searches.
3. Oversee the development and updating of policies and procedures
produced for functional areas (other than the I.S. Department) that
report to the CIO.
4. Conduct interviews and meetings and perform research tasks to
establish and/or identify policies and procedures.
5. Create illustrations using standard software for publication in an
on-line format.
6. Coordinate the periodic update of disaster recovery and contingency
plans for those functional areas that report to the CIO.
7.Establish and maintain a standard documentation format for on-line
and paper medium and ensure it is applied to documentation produced by
those functional areas that report to the CIO.
8.Establish and maintain a schedule for developing, updating and
distributing documentation.
9. Maintain general awareness of technical processes and regulatory
requirements as related to electronic data processing (EDP) audits.
Assist internal and external auditors, as required, in locating and
reviewing procedures for conducting examinations.
10. Evaluate and maintain awareness of cost-effective methods of
producing and distributing documentation via on-line publishing.
11. Assist with preparation of project documentation, such as RFP for
vendors, feasibility studies, analysis studies, etc. Conduct related
research on-line (Internet) as needed. Maintain knowledge of Web
search tools and file down load techniques.
