Subject:XML, XSL, and other related new tools From:Michael Andrew Uhl <uhl -at- VISLAB -dot- EPA -dot- GOV> Date:Sat, 10 Oct 1998 17:55:42 -0400
Esteemed Colleagues:
I was reading Info World today and came across some relevant acronyms,
some you probably recognize, others you probably don't:
XML - Extensible Markup Language
XSL - Extensible Style Language
CSS - Cascading Style Sheet
SMIL - Synchronized Multimedia Integration Language
XMLTP - XML Transfer Protocol
Of course, knowing what the acronyms stand for is the easy part. Trying
to figure out how we, as technical communicators, are going to apply
these new technologies in our work is a huge challenge.
Who out there in TECHWR-L land is already applying these new tools in
their work?
Aside: I've tried using CSSs, but they haven't really paid any
significant dividends, yet.
Cheers.
-Mike
