JOB TITLE: Technical Writer C

SALARY RANGE: $50-75K
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Develop Publications plans. Identify and recommend style considerations in addition to the standard department style. Work with people outside the department to ensure technical accuracy and appropriateness to audience. Produce documentation according to department procedures. Develop a working knowledge of the development life cycle. Represent Technical
Publications Department at product team meetings. Recommend terminology for particular projects. Lead other writers in large projects. Develop expertise in a product and its technical interaction with other products and corporate release schedules. Train new writers. Help to plan documentation libraries. Execute entire projects with minimal supervision. Provide technically accurate, high quality, final documentation that does not require writing management review. Provide high quality production
ready documents.
EDUCATION: BS/BA degree or equivalent experience.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:
6 or more years of experience in technical writing or a related field. Project management experience. Demonstrated ability to develop online HTML documentation. Demonstrated ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously. Communications experience: UNIX networking, IBM communications protocols, and layered communications products. Familiarity
with C or C++ programming languages and UNIX shell programming; programming experience a plus; project management experience a plus. Experience producing long technical manuals using FrameMaker software.
