For two decades, technical communicators have turned to TechWhirl to ask and answer questions about the always-changing world of technical communications, such as tools, skills, career paths, methodologies, and emerging industries. The TechWhirl Archives and magazine, created for, by and about technical writers, offer a wealth of knowledge to everyone with an interest in any aspect of technical communications.
We Are
An 11-person, centralized Technical Publications team serving the
publishing needs of the Stanford Linear Accelerator Center (SLAC) authoring
community. We provide technical editing, graphics design, website design
and development, document management, electronic and paper publishing and
distribution, large document development and management, and cheerful
technical support to the scientific, technical, and administrative sectors
of our site. We are a primarily Macintosh and Unix shop with some
smatterings of NT. We have a busy production environment with a number of
projects on the slate at any time.
You Are
A multi-tasker with excellent written and verbal communications skills and
intermediate-to-expert knowledge of at least two of the following
applications: Microsoft Word, FrameMaker, LaTeX, PageMaker, Quark XPress.
You have demonstrated expertise in proofreading and copyediting to a
specified style sheet and you look forward to learning about the technology
in our field. You enjoy working in a team and sharing your knowledge with
others.
