An interesting piece of information crossed my desk this morning.
BTW...this is all I know and cannot/will not field any questions on the
details of this incident.
On a monthly basis, a Security Awareness Alert memo is distributed to
everyone in the company alerting us to security problems and how they
were resolved. One of the items goes as follows:
"A Director contacted the Bellcore Ethics Hotline and explained that he
had interviewed several candidates for a position in his organization.
Since the job required writing skills, the Director requested writing
samples from each job applicant. One outside candidate submitted a
sample document, which was clearly marked as proprietary information
belonging to a Bellcore competitor company. The document was
subsequently returned to the competitor company. The candidate was not
hired."
Just some food for thought. Sometimes that little proprietary statement
at the bottom/top of a document is taken seriously.
