Subject:Title on resume From:Michael Andrew Uhl <uhl -at- VISLAB -dot- EPA -dot- GOV> Date:Thu, 7 Jan 1999 07:24:46 -0500
TECHWR-Lers,
I put "Senior Technical Writer" under my name at the top of my resume as
a courtesy to those who have to vet a large number of resumes. I want to
send a simple, clear signal: I am a technical writer. I'm not an editor
or illustrator. Yes, I do edit documents and create illustrations, but
only out of necessity. I don't want anyone to have to guess what it is
I do, or at least see myself as doing. In this way, I do want to be
pigeonholed. I can change that title when I decide to change what I do
for a living.
Cheers.
-Mike
