I wrote six books on popular applications, for Macmillan Computer Publishing,
Que Corp., et al. I <always> made more money on a straight fee basis; e.g.,
$10,000 for the book versus pathetic royalties.
There could be exceptions, of course: e.g., if you write the next "Photoshop
Wow! Book".
