This is increasingly SOP in hiring, publishing, and other fields. "We'll call
you." You can't change people, so you might as well work within the system. Make
even your <plain text> e-mail resume as professional-looking and -sounding as
possible. Let them know that if they ignore you, they may be burning a valuable
bridge...
