OK. I want all the fun-loving casual writers on one side of the room
and all the dry pinky-poised writers on the other.
People, please drop all this nonsense. Andrew has every right to
express his opinions in a humorous way. Hell, he's one of the main
reasons I haven't abandoned TECHWR-L, and yes, his posts are the ones
I look for more than any others. Why? Because he makes a valid point
while humoring me, sometimes to the point where I have to do my best
to avoid shooting my coffee out my nose.
If anything should be banned from this list, it should be all the
mundane threads concerning spaces after periods, capitalization in
topic titles, and the "I'm not appreciated" threads. No offense to
anyone on this list, but maybe you'd be appreciated if you thought
outside the box once and a while.
Andrew, I do think you went too far with the 'drinking 40s with your
crack-addict hos' remark... After all, why would anyone spend $1.75 on
a 40 that gives you a 1 hour buzz when you have a $5.00 rock of crack
nearby that will make your heart explode in an instant? ;-)
Seriously folks, lighten up. This is a listserv, not the UN (to coin a
remark). Who's to say we can't make a point and be light about it at
the same time? Technical writing is a profession, not an aristocracy.
Now I'm sure I'll be flamed, so please address all flames directly to
bill_swallow -at- rocketmail -dot- com and not to the list.
