Yes, the formatting is a major player in comprehension, but from a
technological viewpoint it's entirely separable, and should be in different
media. Without such separation, single-source isn't possible. It's madness
to impose formatting requirements on media to which they're not suitable.
The inability to split up content, structure, and formatting is a major
barrier to efficiency.
