I usually never let someone have access to my original files.  Either I supply a hard copy for review or I send an E-mail with a file attached.  If I publish a new manual I place copy of my files onto the network, while at the same time retaining my originals in a different location.

Too many people I have worked with in my lifetime don't know how to work the program properly and create a hell of a mess.
