The good news is that your "other option" (create each chapter as a file,
create a book, etc.) is
precisely Frame's strength. Cross-references across files are handled
deftly and reliably by Frame, and you should jump at the chance to split
your book
up into smaller files.
I agree with Adam about the ease of cross-references across files. However,
the big drawback to the multiple file approach is that it makes
search-and-replace harder,
because you have to jump from file to file, and search for the same thing
in each. Because we use the search facility so often, I find it easier to
keep things
together in one file as much as possible.
On the other hand, the problem with making sure that the first page of a
chapter has a certain Master page is really only an issue at the very end
of a project ,
when you're ready to print or generate an Acrobat document. So I find it's
easier to fix those once at the very end.
It would be nice to have both advantages at the same time. Maybe the next
release of Frame?
