TechWhirl (TECHWR-L) is a resource for technical writing and technical communications professionals of all experience levels and in all industries to share their experiences and acquire information.
For two decades, technical communicators have turned to TechWhirl to ask and answer questions about the always-changing world of technical communications, such as tools, skills, career paths, methodologies, and emerging industries. The TechWhirl Archives and magazine, created for, by and about technical writers, offer a wealth of knowledge to everyone with an interest in any aspect of technical communications.
Would you guys post what you come up with? I'm wrestling with the Help/Web
site issue now, too.
Thanks,

Subject: RE: htmlhelp .chm becomes .exe -- help!
Drew,
If the application is really a website then you cannot serve compiled html
help. If Help needs to be served across the Web and viewed with the user's
browser, you need an uncompiled solution. Tell me what authoring tool you
are using and I'll make some suggestions.
I've compiled a .chm html-help file for use in a web application. When
on the website, clicking on its link doesn't launch the help, but rather
pops up a 'Save' box to save the help as an .exe file.
Has anyone else encountered this? I couldn't find any documentation on
this problem. All leads appreciated!
Thanks,
Drew Krause
