Seems to me that this is a very important point. When in these
situations, we want the problem to be fixed *now*, hence the urge to explain
to others how wrong they are. The trouble is that explaining doesn't stick,
and sometimes is actually counterproductive as people dig in their heels.
The changes that stick come from day-to-day exposure to contrary evidence
that gradually change attitudes. This is much harder work and requires
patience and careful attention to exactly what's in the beliefs of the
people you wish to convince.
