TechWhirl (TECHWR-L) is a resource for technical writing and technical communications professionals of all experience levels and in all industries to share their experiences and acquire information.
For two decades, technical communicators have turned to TechWhirl to ask and answer questions about the always-changing world of technical communications, such as tools, skills, career paths, methodologies, and emerging industries. The TechWhirl Archives and magazine, created for, by and about technical writers, offer a wealth of knowledge to everyone with an interest in any aspect of technical communications.
Ditto what Richard Smith said. Plus, I place the page numbers in the upper
right/left corners of the pages (yes, two sided). I've seen other PDF/online
manuals with this format, and it helps me quickly find a page number (when
it doesn't correspond to the page numbers in Acrobat Reader). Otherwise, I'm
scrolling down to the bottom of the PDF page to find the number.
For Word documents, I had problems if I used PDFWriter. Printing to Acrobat
Distiller solved those problems. Your right/left section breaks may not
cause the problem. I'm assuming that, when in Word, the Print Preview
command did not reveal any blank pages.
E-mail me at work if your problem persists. I'm trying to find my Acrobat
Distiller settings that have made my days brighter.
