TechWhirl (TECHWR-L) is a resource for technical writing and technical communications professionals of all experience levels and in all industries to share their experiences and acquire information.
For two decades, technical communicators have turned to TechWhirl to ask and answer questions about the always-changing world of technical communications, such as tools, skills, career paths, methodologies, and emerging industries. The TechWhirl Archives and magazine, created for, by and about technical writers, offer a wealth of knowledge to everyone with an interest in any aspect of technical communications.
I used to think that I didn't have any contact with the people who use our
manuals, until I realized that a lot of people use our manuals internally
(sales people, installation engineers, customer support personnel, to name a
few). Now that we publish most of our manuals on our Intranet, in addition
to traditional publication for our customers, a lot of people I rub
shoulders with every day are using our manuals right here in the cubicles.
So I guess I do have quite regular contact with at least some of the people
who use our manuals, and I'm much more likely to get feedback from them than
from paying customers.
