Subject:RE: Mif2Go - Any Other Applications Out There? From:Lief Erickson <lerickson -at- mqsoftware -dot- com> To:"TECHWR-L" <techwr-l -at- lists -dot- raycomm -dot- com> Date:Fri, 20 Jul 2001 16:33:53 -0500
Tara Nelson had a bad experience with the mif2go manufacturer and wants to
know...
<<Does anyone know of another application that converts Frame to Word and
Word to Frame documents well? After testing Mif2Go through their demo, it
really does a good job as far as the conversion process and not destroying
the document in the process. The experience I've had with the vendor, whom
I would have to depend on for technical support and service, is appalling.
So I'm looking for other applications to try.>>
You are correct, mif2go does a wonderful job of FrameMaker <--> Word
translation. Although I have never used it Filtrix from www.blueberry.com is
another application that claims to do the same.
I don't know what you'd want to round trip from FrameMaker to Word to
FrameMaker, because that seems like there's extra work being done that
should not need to be. If you are using RoboHelp or some other .rtf based
application for online help, mif2go can directly create HTML, HTML-help and
many other help formats directly from your FrameMaker files, something
Filtrix can't do.
For what it's worth, I've always had my questions promptly and politely
answered by all at www.omsys.com, the creators of mif2go. I've also found
everyone to be extremely helpful. Perhaps you ran into someone that was
having a bad day?
