For two decades, technical communicators have turned to TechWhirl to ask and answer questions about the always-changing world of technical communications, such as tools, skills, career paths, methodologies, and emerging industries. The TechWhirl Archives and magazine, created for, by and about technical writers, offer a wealth of knowledge to everyone with an interest in any aspect of technical communications.
I have been on this list for almost a year, but I don't think I've posted
before. I couldn't find this question addressed in the archives.
I just finished preparing a proposal (response to a Fed gov't RFP) that must
ship today to arrive on Monday. Is there a standard rule of thumb for number
of copies to send with the original when the RFP doesn't specify? I've only
prepared a dozen or so proposals, but they have all required an exact number
(anywhere from 3 copies to 18).
This RFP has no preparation instructions at all. In fact, it doesn't even
provide a "ship to" address. (The RFP supplies a GSA Standard Form 1449, but
the "Deliver To" block is empty. I just have to send it to the address in
the "Issued by" block and cross my fingers.)
Obviously, I should contact the issuing agency, but I've emailed the contact
person three times over the past week and have received no response. No
phone number is given, and the RFP specifies that no phone calls will be
accepted.
Any responses, even educated guesses, would be greatly appreciated.
