Subject:inserting a PDF file into Word From:Ami WRIGHT <ami -at- ziplink -dot- net> To:"TECHWR-L" <techwr-l -at- lists -dot- raycomm -dot- com> Date:Fri, 31 Jan 2003 15:27:24 -0500
Hi folks,
For my current client, I'm producing documents in Word. He has also just
sent me a PDF file that contains a diagram, with measurements (like a
blueprint), that he wants inserted into the document at actual size (9.5" x
5.5"). It is important that it retain the correct dimensions.
I've tried a few different ways to put the PDF file into the Word file.
The most successful was to use Tools > Select graphics in the PDF file,
then copy and paste into Word. Unfortunately, his elegant drawing now
looks smeared and jagged. Also, resizing it so that it is exactly the size
of the original will very be tough.
At the moment, he's planning on distributing the documents hard-copy, but
perhaps later he'll want to send electronic files.
This is my best plan at the moment:
While the documents are being distributed on paper, keep the PDF file as a
separate file. Print the word file and the PDF file and bind them as one
document.
When he's ready to go electronic, turn the Word file into PDF and then add
the other PDF file.
Does anyone have any better ideas?
Thanks,
-Ami
