WinHelp macro (or web link) to open new file using Word template?
Subject:WinHelp macro (or web link) to open new file using Word template? From:"Anameier, Christine A - Eagan, MN" <christine -dot- a -dot- anameier -at- usps -dot- gov> To:"TECHWR-L" <techwr-l -at- lists -dot- raycomm -dot- com> Date:Wed, 7 May 2003 16:46:17 -0500
Can anyone advise me on this... I've spent the last couple of hours
hitting Google, the archives, Google's newsgroup archives, MSDN, and
nothing's working. The most promising link I saw was in a 1996 Techwr-L
post, and, alas, the link was dead.
I want to set up a link in a WinHelp file that will create a new file
from a Word template. ExecFile just opens the template itself-not good,
that'll create too many ways for our users to get confused. I want them
to click the link and see a new Document1 based on the template. Been
playing around with ShellExecute too, but to no avail.
I can't seem to pass command-line arguments to Winword through ExecFile.
ShellExecute is just plain confusing. Has anyone managed this feat?
As an alternative, I could see putting a link on a web page to do this,
instead of using WinHelp--but I have no idea whether it's possible.
