I agree, very harsh.
I kept my response short as the info was lacking.
So, do you and your manager have a good personal
relationship? Maybe you could work with her to
transition her from, as Dick mentioned, managing the
documentation to managing the documentation
department.
As a non-manager, you don't have to avoid management
issues. Manager or no, you're both co-workers. She
probably tried to be helpful in gettig you the info
you needed (or maybe not), at least within the
channels that were laid out. You shouldn't feel it's
not your place to assist her, especially if the new
structure and climate is new to both of you.
Heck, some good may come your way out of it.
