I have an opportunity through the DoL to get further training and have
them pay for it. My thoughts were to get training in desktop publishing,
graphic design, and web design, in about that order. The most requested
applications, according to the job ads I've seen, are FrameMaker and
Robohelp.
Trouble is, I can't find anyone offering Frame and Robohelp training in
the Denver metro area. Can anyone help?
I'm a tech writer/editor who has worked in IT, environmental engineering,
and scientific publishing. I've been out of work for seven months. It's
NEVER been like this! The last time I was unemployed, it was for three
weeks. The time before that I went straight from one job into another
with no break.
I've also applied for mentoring through STC. Since no one seems to be
hiring tech writers for salaried positions, I'm hoping I'll have more luck
trying to get things going as an independent contractor/freelancer.
