Subject:A suspected can of worms From:"Mark L. Levinson" <mark_levinson -at- yahoo -dot- com> To:"TECHWR-L" <techwr-l -at- lists -dot- raycomm -dot- com> Date:Wed, 25 Jun 2003 07:05:46 -0700 (PDT)
If you ask me, techical writing belongs
in the School of Education.
Naturally, though, it involves training
in effective use of the language and
at least enough technical subject-matter
to practice on.
And yes, this is a can of worms. The
"appropriate set of priorities and
inclinations" that John mentions is,
of course, either (a) that rare natural
talent for expression, which can easily
be supplemented by the technical stuff
that any clod can learn, or (b) that
rare technical panache, which can easily
be supplemented by the language stuff
that any clod can learn.
In my opinion, if you want enlightenment
you first must learn pinball. Here comes
Uncle Ernie to lead you to your very own
machine.
