Relative to Bear's suggestion, we had a similar problem with linked
graphics, so we used a working directory. But, rather than move the content
to a working directory every time we wanted to work on something, we would
remap a drive, so that the drive was the working directory. This let us move
the working directory around. And, it shortened the relative paths for the
linked graphics.
