TextPad, shareware download from www.textpad.com will do this. There is a menu option to Find In Files. The key is not to open any files within TextPad, then launch the Find In Files (Ctrl+F5), put in the search parameters; Find what:, In files: (*.pdf), In folder: [browse to the folder holding the PDFs; then click Find. Works like a charm.
