We just had a thread on this a few weeks ago. Many
products, especially SW products, can be made to
do more things than the original business plan called
for them to do. Telling the customers about these
"other capabilities" may subject you to liabilities if
you don't provide the necessary instructions and
support to enable these things to be done correctly,
especially if there is potential user risk involved, and
therefore obligates you to perform the necessary
testing and provide the necessary support to ensure
that these things can be done safely and as stated.
In other words, you don't tell the customer that your
product can do certain things, even if you know it
can, if those things are outside the range of your
product plans.
